BIOGRAPHY

I've always loved cartoons and movies, I was a stalwart critic of quality animation from a young age. My favorites growing up were more the niche and odd type, like The Brave Little Toaster and Cats Don't Dance. And my favorite films as a teen were Terminator 2 and The Lord of the Rings. I watched them countless times trying to dissect how they were made. Then in 2009 I saw Avatar, and it was settled. I wanted to work in the film industry! I attended Savannah College of Art and Design and there discovered that I much preferred working in feature animation, although I still love film VFX.

After graduating in 2015, I met my current husband who is from Japan. So I made the big decision to take a gap year... or five! I moved to Nagoya and challenged myself by becoming an English teacher. I learned incredibly important skills- communication, team work, curriculum development, and more. Plus I absolutely adored my students!

Now I'm feeling that itch and am ready to pivot back into CG and art, which is my true passion. I love lighting the most, but I am familiar with all aspects of the CG pipeline, with experience in character and set shading, grooming, and modeling. I also have working proficiency in Japanese. In my spare time I love hiking and camping, I've hiked various 3,000 meter class mountains, my favorites being the Tateyama Alpine Route, Mt. Kisokoma (pictured left), and Mt. Haku.
